what is the function of the stage?
supports the microscope slide; has a central opening that allows light to pass through the slide

what’s the funtion of the diaphragm?
controls the amount of light that reachers the object being viewed.
what is the function of the objective lenses?
magnify the object; has three different magnifications: low power (4x), medium power (10x), and high power (40x).
what is the function of the revolving nosepiece?
holds the objective lenses; rotates allowing the lenses to be changed while viewing an object
what is the funtion of the body tube?
contains the eyepiece (ocular lens); supports the objective lenses
what is the funtion of the ocular lens?
the part of the microscope that you look through to view the object; magnifies the image of the object, usually by 10x
what is the funtion of the coarse adjustment knob?
moves the body tube up or down to get the object into focus; is used only with the lower power object lens
what is the function of the fine adjustment knob?
moves the body tube to get the object into sharp focus; is used with the medium-power and high-power magnification.
(used only after the object has been located, centered, and focused under the low-power lens using the coarse adjustment knob)
what is the funtion of the light source?
an electrcal light or mirror thhat can be angled to direct light through the object that’s being viewed.
