Definition of transportation theory
Active process of mental immersion into a narrative world, getting mentally involved in the story
What is transportation theory trying to achieve
Relating or engaging with customers
What does narrative transportation theory offer?
Offer a temp escape from the “real world”
Offers potential for experience temporally a different self, imaging oneself as one of the characters

I.e comparing different film versions with original text, comparing sim stories with each other etc
Nostalgic intertextuality
Consumers mental linkages between a narrative/ text and ones ideas of a nostalgic past.
I.e. longing for the good old days when everything was better - fond memories of our younger days etc
Out of text intertextuality
Consumers mental linkages between characters / narratives in a text and actual people’s / events in the real world
Mental linkages with ones own personal life experiences
