NATS Purpose and where does the wording come from ?

A

Advancing Aviation and Keeping the Skies Safe - from Safety Strategy / and our Business

how we run our business, with Safety being a key principle and not a competing value, and also in our licence agreement which requires us to continually improve and adapt to the new airspace users, and to do this often mean implementing new innovative technologies while maintaining or improving our safety performance .An example of this is bringing in the TBS projects which both improve the capacity as well as having identified safety benefits.

What is our Safety Policy Statement?

A

Our safety commitment is to strive to continually to improve our operational safety performance and to minimise our contribution to the risk of an aircraft accident as far as reasonably practicable.

We achieve this by a systematic approach to safety management and we interact with this most through applying the SMM

The safety strategy contains 4 key themes that were identified as part of a review to ensure that as an organisation the strategy we had in 2014 still allowed us to move towards our safety goals, in a changing safety landscape.

NATS Management Structure

A

The highest level of governing authority in the NATS management structure is the NATS
Holdings Ltd – Main Board. The Board is supported in its oversight of safety by the NATS
Safety Review Committee.
The Board appoints the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who undertakes the day-to-day
management of the NATS Group. The CEO is supported by the NATS Executive Team which
includes the Safety Director, Operations Director and Technical Services Director. The focus of
work at this level is on strategy development and measuring and monitoring performance in
achieving the business strategy and plan. The Executive Team is supported by the NATS
Safety Steering Group.
