What is Tawhid?
A
- Belief that Allah is One God, supremacy of will, nature of Him
- He alone created the earth
- He alone sustains it

Name Muslim beliefs of Allah
A
- Infinite, omni-
- Fair + just (judge, day of Judgement)
- Merciful and benevolent, helps humans by sending messengers / prophets to help understanding on how to live life following his will (every chapter of Qur’an begins, Bismalah, “In the name of God, the merciful, the Compassionate”)
- Transcendent / immanent (“closer than their own jugular vein” - Qur’an)

What is the effect of Tawhid on the lives of believers? Why?
A
- Allah knows everything, so will try not to sin (even in thought)
- Give their whole lives to the will of Allah, becoming a servant of Him
- Live in obedience to his commands
(like Muhammad) - Humble attitude, they are completely dependent upon him according to Tawhid, no reason to boast
- Allah is ultimate provider, so be content with life
- No fear of death, because set by Allah
- Cannot commit sin of idolatry, worst of all (shirk)
- Rejects Christian trinity (not monotheistic)
- Sunni vs. Shi’a (twelve Imams are semi-divine, have special characteristics, so risks Tawhid?)
