What is autocracy?
A system of government in which one person has total power

A general term for those who actively opposed the Bolsheviks during the Civil War
Why did people prefer the NEP to War Communism?
War Communism was associated with famine, whereas the NEP was more liberal and allowed people to produce for themselves
How did Trotsky and Stalin differ over the spread of communism?
Trotsky wanted communism to spread all over the world, but Stalin wanted to establish ‘socialism in one country’
What is totalitarianism?
A form of dictatorial government that controls every aspect of the behaviour of citizens of the state
