Q

In an essay, describe how waas works. Include major components of how they work

A

WAAS includes 38 Wide Area Reference Stations(WRS), 3 Wide Area Master Stations(WMS), 6 GEO uplink Subsystems, and 3 GEO satellites (communication satellites). Step 1: WRS monitors GPS signals to determine position errors within a specific satellite; Step 2: WMS develops correction message; step 3: GEO uplink system transmits messages to navigation payloads on the communication satellites; Step 4:The GEO communication satellites BROADCAST the correction messages to GPS/WAAS receivers; Step 5: GPS/WAAS receivers can achieve an accuracy of a few meters across the NAS

17
Q

What does ADS-B stand for?

A

Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast

18
Q

What are 2 frequencies that ads-b operates on?

19
Q

With regard to ads-b out, what freq. is for GA aircraft in the US below 18,000?

20
Q

With regard to ads-b out, what freq. is for jet aircraft operating above 18,000?

21
Q

What is TIS-B?

A

Traffic Information Service- Broadcast

22
Q

What is FIS-B?

A

Flight Information system- Broadcast

23
Q

what is the diff. between ADS-B in and ADS-B out? Also which one is mandated?
