NavVis interview (order management) Flashcards

Q

Walk me through your CV

A

I’m Kaushik, you can call me Kau.
I’m originally from a small tropical island called Mauritius and I’m currently pursuing my postgraduate studies in Management and Technology at TUM, and just finished an exchange semester in Istanbul. I focus on Finance and Computer Engineering

Alongside my studies, I’ve been engaged on a voluntary basis with an NGO called AIESEC, where I’ve been able to do work driven by purpose to make a positive difference. The commitment varied from 10 hours a week to 20 hour a week depending on the role.

Now, I’m looking to step into new horizons by working with NavVis on bridging the gap between digital and real worlds as a working student.

Q

Strengths and weaknesses

A

My strengths would be analytical thinking, problem-solving and ownership of my work. As an example, I had various sales bottleneck that I had to solve during my work as a consultant. One of the more memorable one is that my consultees were facing the issue that they were not attracting many people at their information booths on campus. We talked about it, trying to think of possible hypotheses of what was not working– and eventually the solution we attempted was make the infobooth eye-catching through a world-map game. Doing this got many more eyes and many more sign-ups in the next infobooths.

My weaknesses would be my sensitivity and far from perfect German command.

Q

Why do you want to work for NavVis?

A
  1. Purpose in the company
  2. Management/Leadership of the company
  3. Hierarchy/Organizational Structure
  4. International Environment

Personally, I find meaning in working for a company that adds tangible and visible value. This is why technology and engineering companies interest me. However, what’s special about working for NavVis is that I’ll get to be at the cutting edge of technology, this is, in my opinion, a novel idea that has a a great potential. The numbers speak for themselves when you look at how the company has grown over the years, in funding and in headcount.

Q

Why do you want to work in this role?

A

I’d love to acquire workplace skills alongside my studies, enable myself to be positively transformed by the entrepreneurial culture within the company and develop job relevant technical skills, perhaps new technology tools, that I have never used before. The desire for growth combined with impact are what fuels me.

Q

How are your excel skills?

A

You best judge how good that is. I know how to do SUM, SUMIFs, count, lookup functions, pivot tables. I’m able to use the analyse data function, do linear regressions analysis and data visualisations. However, I do not know VBA and have no experience with PowerBI/PowerQuery.

Q

Why don’t you have any previous work experience?

A

I prioritised academics and extra-curriculars over part-time work; I often had no real university breaks since my exams often ran until September. There were also some visa restrictions that went in play, of course, since I’m not originally from the EU. To keep things simple, due to the pandemic, I wasn’t able to be in Munich until late 2022 and had to work through the whole bureaucratic procedures again. There has been no better time than now for me personally to acquire work experience.
