Dec 1932 Hindenburg appointed Von Schleicher as Chancellor. Von Schleicher soon resigned because he didn’t have much support . Jan 1933 Hindenburg, Schleicher and von Papen met and decided to appoint Hitler as Chancellor.
why did support for Nazis grow in the early 1930s
hopes and promises- the Nazis promised to improve peoples lives, workers promised jobs.

reichstag fire and march elections- in 1933 the reichstag was burnt down and hitler blamed the communists he then got emergancy powers to deal with it he used this to arrest comunists and scare people into voting Nazi

It raised taxes cut wages and reduced unemployment benefits this was very unpopular with the German people

The ss- controlled people it helped by destroying opposition
The gestapo- they could arrest citizens and send them to concentration camps
The courts- the Nazis could appoint judges that approve of nazis so opponents never received a fair trail

By 1939 70 percent of the German house holds had a radio for those who did not 6000 loudspeaker were put up in public squares
How was newspapers used for propaganda
Anti nazi newspapers were closed. By 1944 there were only 1000 daily newspapers and most of these were controlled by the nazi party
