NCCR 26112-23 Flashcards
(17 cards)
What is a volt meter?
A tool used to measure exact voltage.
What is a proving unit?
A tool that supplies a known voltage to test a voltmeter
What is an ohmmeter?
A tool that measures the resistance of a circuit or component
What is an ammeter?
A tool that measures current by detecting the strength of the electromagnetic field around the wires
What is continuity?
A complete (unbroken) circuit. AKA a closed circuit
What is a multimeter?
A tool that combines the function of a voltmeter, ohmeter, and an ammeter
What is frequency?
The number of cycles completed each second by a specific AC voltage.
What is a megohmmeter?
A tool used to measure resistances of millions of ohms
What is a motor rotation meter?
A tool used to identify the motor legs
What is a phase sequence indicator?
A tool used to identify the circuit phases
What is a circuit tester?
A tool used to verify the condition of a grounded circuit
What is an irradiance meter?
A tool used to measure the solar radiation energy in a specific place over a specific period of time
What is UL Standard 3111-1?
A standard that defines the four over-voltage installation categories
What is CAT I?
Protected electronic equipment and circuitry
What is CAT II?
Single-phase receptacle-connected loads such as small appliances and portable tools
What is CAT III?
Three-phase distribution, including single-phase commercial lighting and equipment in fixed location such as switchgear and poly-phase motors
What is CAT IV?
Three-phase power at the meter, outdoor conductors, electricity meter, and service entrances
