Q

What are the structures that make up a mammalian motor neuron?
(Listed in order of transmission of impulse)

A
  • Dendrites
  • Nucleus
  • Cell body
  • Axon (nerve fibre)
  • Myelin sheath (composed of Schwann cells)
  • Nodes of Ranvier
  • ## Motor end plates (form junctions with muscle fibres)

Q

What is the Myelin Sheath?

A

The fatty Myelin Sheath around the axons of nerve cells in vertebrates, acts as an electrical insulator
- gaps in the middle of the Myelin Sheath called The Nodes of Ranvier
