Cookies
A small text file created by a website that is stored in the user’s computer either temporarily for that session only or permanently on the hard disc.
Phishing emails
Phishing is the fraudulent attempt to obtain sensitive information such as usernames, passwords and credit card details by disguising oneself as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication.
Pharming
Pharming is a cyber attack intended to redirect a website’s traffic to another, fake site.
Adware
Adware is unwanted software designed to throw advertisements up on your screen, most often within a web browser.
Malware
Malware, or malicious software, is any program or file that is harmful to a computer user. Types of malware can include computer viruses, worms, Trojan horses and spyware.
Trojan horse email
A Trojan horse can be a program that purports to do one action when, in fact, it is performing a malicious action on your computer. Trojan horses can be included in software that you download for free or as attachments in email messages.
Spyware
Spyware is unwanted software that infiltrates your computing device, stealing your internet usage data and sensitive information.
