uses RC4 for encryption and RC4 uses a 24-bit initialization vector (IV), which is a string of characters added to the transmitted data, such that the same plain-text data frame will never appear as the same ___-encrypted data frame. However, the IV is transmitted in clear text.
WEP
uses Temporal Key Integrity Protocol (TKIP) for enhanced encryption with 48-bit IV and TKIP uses RC4.
WPA
allows you to define triggers so that when a device enters (or exits) the boundaries defined by the administrator, an alert is issued. ? virtual barriers can be active or passive. Active ? require an end user to opt in to location services and require a mobile app to be open. Passive ? are always on; they rely on Wi-Fi and/or cellular data instead of GPS or RFID and can work in the background.
Geofencing
bit errors / bits transmitted
BERT
When troubleshooting a link where you suspect a high BER, you can use a piece of test equipment called a bit-error rate tester (BERT). A BERT contains both a pattern generator (which can generate a variety of bit patterns) and an error detector (which is synchronized with the pattern generator and can determine the number of bit errors), and it can calculate a BER for the tested transmission link.
BERT Tester
to capture traffic flowing through a network switch, using the port mirroring feature of a switch. Protocol Analyzer (network sniffer, ex: Wireshark).
protocol analyzer
on the Internet allows users to connect to view the routing information from that server’s perspective. These are normally related to Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) routes. There are hundreds of thousands of routes in BGP. Using a ? could assist engineers in verifying that changes they made to their local BGP router configuration are having the desired effect on the BGP routes on the Internet.
looking glass server (site)
TDR for copper cabling, OTDR for fiber cabling to find cable break.
TDR/OTDR
measures the magnitude of an input signal versus frequency within the full frequency range of the instrument. The primary use of the spectrum analyzer is to measure the power of the spectrum of known and unknown signals. The input signal that a spectrum analyzer measures is electrical.

This documentation allows you to track cable runs from switches and map them to the actual wall jacks where users connect to your network; these connections might also represent trunks to additional network devices such as wireless access points.
