What is a firewalls purpose
Prevent unauthorised access to a network
What does packet filtering do
limits network access in accordance with administrator rules
What happens when access is denied by a firewall?
The packet can be either dropped or rejected.
Rejected packets send an alert to the sender to notify them.

collects and sends data on behalf of the user.

The privacy of the user is protected as they remain anonymous.
