What is a Firewall used for?
A device that sits between the internet and the network which checks any intruders as they pass to see if they’re safe.
What is Network Infrastructure?
Such hardware as Ethernet and Fibre-Optic cables.
What does NIC stand for and what does it do?
Network Interface Card
It has an ethernet cable input and is inserted in a spare slot at the back of a computer.
What is a HUB and what does it do?
A HUB connects many ethernet accessible devices together.
It allows the devices to send out information to the other devices connected except the device sending out the information. (The Input Port)
What is a Switch and what does it do?
Similar to a HUB, a Switch allows devices connected to it to send information to other connected devices, but instead allows the person send the signal to certain devices instead of all devices on the line.
What is a Wi-Fi Router?
A Wi-Fi Router acts as a wireless access point and provides network access to available devices. (Wireless Devices)
What do NIC, HUB, Switch and Wi-Fi Routers fall under?
Communication Devices
