NEURO 2 Flashcards
(47 cards)
What makes up the brachial plexus?
The anterior rami of C5-T1
Where do the trucks arise?
Inferior shoulder / arm
Where do the brachial plexus arise?
Anterior and middle scale by the gap and the subclavian artery
What makes up the lumbar spine?
L1-L4
Where does it rise from?
The superficial and deep psoas major and anterior QL
Where do most nerves if the sacral plexus arise from?
Greater sciatic foramen
Where does it arise from?
Posterior pelvic wall
femoral nerve
Origin: L2-L4
Pathway: lateral femoral triangle to the anterior thigh by the inguinal ligament
Innverates: iliacus, hip flexors, knee extenders
Saphenous nerve
Origin: femoral nerve
Pathway: femoral triangle to adductor output down medial leg
Innervates: medial ankle / foot to the 1st MT
Radial nerve
Origin: C5-T1
Pathway: axillary fossa posteriorly to the Artery, down radial groove of humerus between lateral and medial heads of triceps, to cubical fossa and breaks into its superficial and deep nerve branch
Innervates: all posterior muscles of arm (detail) and the posterior skin of arm, infrolateral skin, and proximal 3 1/2 digits with for sun hand
Ulnar nerve
Origin: C8-T1
Pathway: medial Adam to posterior medical epicondyle to cubical tunnel past guysn tunnel and to medial Hand
Innervates: medial hand and 1 1/2 medial digits. Flexor digitorum ulnaris and ulnar side of flexor digitorum proundus and hand muscles
Sciatic nerve
Origin: L4-S3
Pathway: greater sciatic foramen to piriformus into glut. Region, down through biceps femoris, to popliteu fossa of knee
Innervates: hamstrings (mostly) and all muscles of the leg minus quads and hip joint
Pudendal nerve
Origin: S2-S4
Pathway: greater sciatic foramen to piriformus and coccyx, around the Ischial spine out the lesser pelvis
Innervates: perineum, external genitalia
Obturator nerve
Origin: L2-L4
Pathway: medial femoral triangle to the superior pelvis down pubic ramus and out the lessor pelvis
Innervates: adductors
Superficial fibular nerve
Origin: common fibulae nerve
Pathway: around head of fibula and neck of fibula, down along the lateral leg to the digit 3 to become subcutaneous
Innervates: fib. Longus and brevis, anterior 3rd of lower leg
Deep fibular nerve
Origin: common fibular
Pathway: head of fibula and neck, down along extensor digitorum and interosseous membrane to the dorsum foot.
Innervates: anterior leg muscles and 1st cleft of digits with joints across it
Intercostobrachial nerve
Supplies axilla and medial arm
Inferior lateral cutaneous nerve
Supplies Inferior distal arm
Superior lateral cutaneous nerve of arm
Supplies mid arm and lower deltoid muscle
Medial branch of median nerve
Supplies the 2-4 digits
Lateral branch of median nerve
Supplies medial skin of palm and the thumb surface and medial 2nd digit
Superficial branch of ulnar nerve
Supplies palm of skin and distal dorsal surface of digit 5 and medial 4th
Dorsal branch of ulnar nerve
Supplies dorsum hand and proximal 5th digit and medial 4th digit
What are the four arising nerves of the lumbar plexus?
Llioguinal and iilohypogastirc
Gentiofemoral
Lateral cutaneous
Anterior cutaneous
