Q

neuromodulators

A
  • commonly act on the release of neurotransmitters from the axon terminals/presynaptic neurons/postsynaptic receptors
  • most bind to GPCR therefore act on slower timescale relative to neurotransmitters that bind to ionotropic receptors
  • GPCR = metabatropic
  • ion channels = ionotropic
  • examples: ACh, dopamine, seratonin, cannabinoids, nitric oxide
