Q

Why do we have mutiple neuromuscular junction

A

As all muscle fibres need to contact quickly an simultaneously and this aids survival

Q

Neuromuscular junction similarities with cholinergic synapse

A

Neurotransmitter -transported by diffusion
Receptors - neurotransmitter bind to causing Na+ to diffuse in
Sodium potassium pumps - repolarises the axon
Enzymes - hydrolyse the neurotransmitter

Q

Differences wit neuromuscular junction

A
  • Only excitatory
  • neurone only linked to muscle
  • motor neurones involved
  • action potential ends
  • acetylcholine binds to receptors on membrane of muscle fibre
