5
Q

the structure of a neuron (1&2)

A
  1. cell body includes a nucleus which contains genetic material
  2. branch like structures called dendrites protrude from the cell body, carrying nerve impulses from neighbouring cells towards the cell body

6
Q

structure of a neuron (3,4&5)

A
  1. axon carries electrical impulse away from cell body and down the neuron. it’s covered in a myelin sheath
  2. gaps in myelin sheath called nodes of raniver speed up transmission
  3. at the end are terminal buttons that communicate with next neuron across the gap
