Neurotransmitters Flashcards
(22 cards)
The most common excitatory NT
Glutamate
Inhibited with ketamine and alcohol
Glutamate
The main inhibitory NT
GABA
Stimulated by alcohol and benzos
GABA
It is only found in the spinal column and is inhibitory
Glycine
Made in the raphe nucleii
Serotonin
It is found in enterochromaffin cells
Serotonin
It is involved in sleep, depression and appetite
Serotonin
It is made in the basal forebrain and tegmentum
ACH
It is found at NMJ
ACH
It is made in the substantia nigra
Dopamine
It is made in the locus ceruleus
Noradrenaline
Involved in reward, neuromodulation, endogenous analgesia
Opiods
Where are adrenergic B1 found?
Heart
Where are adrenergic B2 found?
Bronchi. Salbutamol and salmeterol activate
Where are adrenergic A1
Eye, Vessels (doxasozin inhibits to lower BP)
Where are adrenergic A2
Pre synaptic for self inhibition
Where are Muscarinic receptors?
Bronchi - ipatropium and tiatropium inhibit them.
Atropine also inhibits so increases SNS, eg dilated pupils
What are the SNS NT?
Pre - post = nicotinic and ACH
Post - effector = adrenaline ad adrenergic
What are the PNS NT?
Pre - post = nicotinic and ACH
post - effector =muscarinic and ACH
What are the striated/skeletal muscle NT?
Nicotinic and ACH
What kind of drug is atropine?
Anti muscarinic (Increases SNS input)
