Two people
John Ross and Robert Glendinning Set up wholesale drapery place in Dunedin in 1860s then bought sheep farms + developed clothing factories dominating the textile industry

John Ross used his wealth from the drapery,sheep and textile business to set up a training college for presbyterian ministers
Boats
In 1843 Henry Nicol set up a shipyard in Auckland and by 1887 the company had built over 180 ships
Indigenous people
Donald Maclean learned the māori language and became native minister (1877-80) and campaigned for māori rights
Schools
James MacAndrew set up an estimated 100 schools in Otago including the University of Dunedin
Education
Learmonth Dalrymple set up New Zealand’s first school for girls and it opened in 1871
Farming
many Scot’s were skilled farmers and influenced the development of sheep and mixed farming
Donald Reid started as a farm labourer but when he died in 1919 he had an estate of 6300 acres
Medicine
1875 the first medical school in NZ was set up in Otago and the first head of medicine was a Scot called John Scot, professor of physiology was John Malcom fellow countryman
