Newton's Laws Of Motion Flashcards
(12 cards)
Force
A push or a pull exerted on an object in order to change the motion of the object.
Motion
A change in position over time.
Net Force
The combination of all the forces acting on an object.
Speed
The distance traveled per rate per time/ distance per time.
Velocity
The speed and direction of an object.
Acceleration
The rate which velocity changes over time.
Newton’s First Law
An object is not going to change what is doing unless another object acts upon it.
Newton’s Second Law
Force = mass X acceleration.
Newton’s Third Law
For every force there is an equal and opposite force.
Inertia
The tendency of an object to resist being moved or, if the object is moving, to resist a change in speed or direction until an outside force acts upon the object.
Friction
A force that resist motion.
Mass
The amount in an object.
