I will take appropriate BSI precautions. (1)

I will ensure that I have a tank, regulator, and proper mask

I will quickly open and shut the oxygen tank to blow out any accumulated dirt or dust.

I will now ensure the oxygen reservoir is completely full before placing on the patient.

I will place the mask on the patient’s face and secure with band. I will ensure that the mask is fitting snug around contours of face.

I will select the appropriate device

I will remove the NRB and connect the cannula to the liter flow valve on the regulator.

I will adjust the flow to between 1 and 6 LPM

I will place the prongs into the patient’s nose and wrap the tubing around their ears and cinching the tube under the neck.
