What is the objective of normal lung protocol?
A
Ensure pts are adequately, safely, ventilated for the shortest period while reducing VILI

Exclusion Criteria for Normal lung protocol (8)
A
- Acute/chronic lung, pleural, or chest wall disease or abnormality
- Acute TBI, closed head injury, or acute spinal cord injury
- Post thoracic surgery
- Shock or hemodynamic instability
- Myocardial ischemia
- Temp abnormality (outside 33-39)
- Ongoing acidosis (pH less than 7.30)
- Excluded at request of doc

- MV 5-10
- Vt 6-8
- RR 10-20
- I:E = 1:1.5 or less (usually 1:2)
- FiO2 = 60%
