What are the process of taking notes?

A
  1. Fold paper in half vertically
  2. write notes while studying on one side
  3. step away from notes facing downwards and do your other activities
  4. when you’re back to doing that activity, write down what you remember of the notes you’ve written down on the other half with the original notes still facing down. Why do you perform the process of taking notes?

A

The 1st part is to leave space when you’re taking notes.

The 2nd part is to ensure or ascertain how much of the previous lesson have you retained. Human tend to retain very little information of what they learnt the 1st time.

This activity of re-writing what you remember of your notes will ensure you know which part you have obtained and which part requires review.

When should reviewing be done and how?

A

Review should be done before going to bed on the same day by using flash cards. Use brainscape.

Why should you review and how long should you do it?

A

Periodic review is required until you have mastered it. Use automation to ease the process. to set up trello board for review.

What should you have on top of your notebook when learning? Why?

A

A small piece of paper or focus cards. To fight off distraction while learning. Any important thoughts are to be written down on the cards and afterwards you are to continue with the learning.

If it is related to the study, write it down and get back to it once chapter/ topic done.

When do you go back to the cards? How do you manage them?

A

Get back to the cards only when you are done with the learning activity.

Prioritize based on 1- important and urgent, 2 - important and not urgent, 3 - not important and not urgent
Not important and urgent task are usually due to other people. Try to get them to know your schedule or schedule meetings with them to address issues all at once.

If it is related to the study, write it down and get back to it once chapter/ topic done.

A

It takes longer than that as processing time is not involved in the 3 hours.
