Q

how is current conducted?

A
  • in the electrolyte, there are 2 different types of metals, e.g. zinc and copper
  • 2 metals make + and - poles of the cells (known as electrodes)
  • when connected to an external circuit, + ions are attracted to - pole and - ions attracted to + pole
  • there is a potential difference between poles
  • energy is transferred to charges in external circuit
