How do NRs carry out their functions?
A
They bind DNA specifically (or in-part specifically), ligands, agonists, and drugs (in therapeutic contexts)

What is the biological function of nuclear receptors?
A
They are ligand-regulated transcription factors (ie adaptor molecules that bind to DNA and assemble complexes on the DNA so as to regulate gene expression)
