Nudge definition
A way to influence behaviour without coercion.
Nudge examples
Defaults, increasing the salience of desired option, social norms.
Sludge definition
An intervention that reduces actions.
Libertarian paternalism
Libertarian: they do not impact ‘freedom of choice’ (economically).
Paternalism: they give you a push in the right direction.
Choice architecture
The design of how choices are presented.
Behavioural science definition
Emphasis on behavioural outcomes and encouraging behaviour change (unlike psychology, which emphasises internal mental processes).
i-frame vs. s-frame
Individual vs. systematic change.
Individual-level misinformation interventions
Boosting, nudging, debunking, content labelling.
