Q

How do the CNS and PNS link with each other

A
  • Receptors - Somatic (monitor outside world) and Visceral (monitor internal conditions) detect sensory infromtaion
  • Information transmitted by AFFERENT DIVISION of the PNS
  • CNS porccesses information
  • Motor command transmitted by EFFERENT DIVISION of PNS either SOMATIC Voulantary movement (Skeletal muscle) or AUTOMONIC Invoulantary (smooth,cardiac,glands,adipose tissue)
  • Autominic can be subdivided into Parasympathetic or Sympathetic

Q

Detail the sub divisions of the Autonmic Nervous System

A

Sympathetic - Rest/Digest
Stimulates and mobalises energy resources e.g. Increase:
* Heart
* Blood Pressure
* Sweat secretion

Parasympathetic - Fight/Flight
Conserves energy
e.g.
* Decrease Heart rate
* Increae Digestion
* Increase salavation
