Numerical Reasoning Flashcards
(18 cards)
Calculate earlier amount for percentage change
later amount / 1.percentage change
Calculate relationship (in %)
(X / Y ) - 100
Exchange rates increases on items
item price/exchange rate
Calculate percental increase (percentage increase)
Large number / smaller number - 100
X accounts for Y
Y / X x 100% =
Multiply by factor over 100
ex. 125
Whatever Number x 1.25
calculate minutes from normal number (ex. 2.98 –> minutes)
83 into minutes → 0.83 x 60 (ex. 2.98 → 2 hours, 0.98 x 60 = 2 hours and ….)
percentage decrease (not percentage change)
(the decrease / original number) x 100
Triple ratio
1) Put three numbers together (2:4:5). 2) Multiply them by 10 or another number. 3) make the smallest possible number for all (by dividing all by divisible number).
Using the data in the table, how many more fixed telephone lines would Andorra have needed in 2007 to have had 5% of the total across these countries?
- Add up total of countries OTHER than Andorra. = 799.4
- 1-0.05 = .95
- Find fraction that = .95, which is 19/20 in this case.
- total of countries / 19 = 42.1 K (5% of the total)
- Subtract the answer from the # of andorra, in this case 42.1 K - 37.2 K = 4.9 K
Proportion of total revenue: ex. 11%
Total revenue x 0.11
trick to remember > < greater than lesser than
Croc eats the larger number, so big mouth towards larger number (e.g. <3 –> lesser than 3 because 3 is greater / >3 –> greater than 3 because the other number is greater)
Speed, Distance, Time –> which on top of pyramid
D, Distance
Population, # per capita, or total amount –> which on top of pyramid
total amount
Percentage change (REMINDER)
BE CAREFUL: Do NOT divide right away…. Remember to SUBSTRACT (-), first! Then divide. :) (later number - earlier number) / earlier number x 100
Find Number of people from Employment rate of population in specific age group
FIRST, find the number of people in that PORTION of the population (population x portion of the population %), and then find number of people in that age group
1 tonne = how many kg?
1000 kg
per capita…if pop is in thousands, and so is total amount, do we multiply per capita by 1000 or not?
NO, we do NOT multiply the per capita per 1000! It stays as is.
