Discuss the historical development of professional nursing and nursing education in Canada

A

2 waves
First wave focused on nursing leaders who established associations.
Second wave was the events and social structures. Along with the lives and experiences that helped shape nursing.

Aboriginals were some of the first people to have health care ( herbal remedies)
Quebec had the first hospital where Jesuit priests were the nurses, there were also male attendants in the “sick bays”

Nursing then transitioned to the augustinian nuns.
Florence nightingale is the supposed founder of modern nursing.
Jeanne Mance founded a hospital in montreal and due to her medical knowledge later became an inspiration to generations.
