ADA (American With Disabilities Act)
Civil rights act enacted in 1990 prohibiting against person with disabilities.
Prescribes standards that architects must observe in design of building
Professional Code of Conduct
Any set of rules governing the behavior and comportment of professionals as they carry out their work
Example AIA Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.
ANSI
American National Standards Institute: A non-profit standards organization that develops voluntary consensus standards for products, services, processes, systems and personnel.
Can impact building design and construction
Breach of Contract
When either party to a contract does not follow through with responsibilities outlined in the contract
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
Self regulation in which charitable or philanthropic activities and practices are promoted by a business
International Ethics Standards Coalition (IES)
A professional body which advances a set of ten ethical principles for professionals in architecture and related fields
Code of Ethics
Provides min. standards of conduct , procedures, and sanctions against AIA members who violate standards.
