High risk groups that need 5mg Folate
- Either partner has neural tube defects or family history of neural tube defects
- Previous pregnancy affected by neural tube defects
- Patient is taking anti-epileptic medication
- Patient has diabetes, sickle cell disease, thalassaemia or thalassaemia trait, coeliac
- Patient has a body mass index of 30kg/m2 or more
Malignancies linked with thrombocytosis
Lung, endometriosis, colorectal, gusto, ovarian, renal
Antipressents to use in breast feeding women
sertraline or paroxetine
In resus negative women, give anti-D at which weeks?

Anti-D immunoglobulin should be given as soon as possible (but always within 72 hours) in the following situations:
Delivery of a Rh +ve infant, whether live or stillborn
any termination of pregnancy
miscarriage if gestation is > 12 weeks
ectopic pregnancy (if managed surgically, if managed medically with methotrexate anti-D is not required)
external cephalic version
antepartum haemorrhage
amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling, fetal blood sampling
abdominal trauma
gestational diabetes can be diagnosed by either a:
fasting glucose is >=
fasting glucose is >= 5.6 mmol/L, or
2-hour glucose level of >= 7.8 mmol/L
