Q

What causes open angle (chronic) glaucoma?

A

Aqueous fluid drainage canals (Canal of Schlemm) become constricted or obstructed over time, causing the IOP to rise. In open angle glaucoma, the entrances to the drainage canals are clear and should be working correctly- the obstruction occurs inside the drainage canals
