Word Processing Software
A Word Processor Program used in a variety of settings including homes, offices, schools, etc..
Blank Document
Basic Template of Microsoft word; Paper, electronic copy or record displaying information.
Word Wrap
Feature of Word that pushes words to the next line upon reaching the right margin of the page
Ribbon
Enables user to enhance, create, or modify a document
Title Bar
States file name of the current file, and access to the Tell Me tool.
Quick Access Toolbar
Makes it easy to save a document, undo, or redo recent commands
Status Bar
Keeps user up to date on information like: word/page count or current position on the document
View Buttons
Right side of Status Bar, enables user to change view style of the current document
Templates
Predesignated Documents included in word offline and to be searched online for.
Insertion Point
Indicates where the text you type will be placed on the current page
Spell Check
A built in tool that reviews the document for spelling and Grammar errors
Thesaurus
A specialized dictionary tool that finds synonyms or antonyms for specified words
Insights
A pane that presents outside resources like images, definitions, references, etc…
Headers and Footers
One or more lines at the top and bottom respectively of a document, granting a more professional appearance
Margins
Adjustable space left black around the outside of a document
Watermark
Text or graphic that displays behind text on a page, indicates property, company name, status, etc..
Symbol
Text, graphic, or foreign language character that can be inserted into a document
Print Layout View
Default view upon opening Microsoft Word
Draft View
Provides the most space available for text without regard for margins or special page features
Outline View
Displays a document in a hierarchical fashion
Web Layout View
Used if the document will be used in an online context
Read Mode
Facilitates proofreading and comprehension, making documents easy to read across many devices
Zoom
Enables user to enlarge text only
Print Preview
A page to review a document as it will be printed, one page at a time
