-Studios were less dominant. There was room for independently produced films.
-More flexibility for actors.
-Rise in new styles of acting such as improvisation and method acting.
-‘counterculture’ filmmaking revolution
-More complex and explicit themes: anti-heroes, sex, drugs
-Emphasis on irresolution

When was the Hayes Code abolished? What replaced it?

1968. Replaced by the ratings system (U, PG, 12….) etc.
