Q

You have four CDL items. In the remarks and or exceptions column of the CDL there are no performance penalties indicated for removed items (negligible items). Does this mean you do not have to consider any performance penalties at all?

A

No. CDL states that no more than 3 items of such items can be missing without making a correction. When more then 3 are missing you have to decrease limiting weights by 50KG for each additional item.

Q

What is the difference between the MEL and the CDL?

A

The MEL is used to defer inoperative equipment not missing equipment. The CDL is dealing with missing equipment. It gives a list of non-structural elements that may be missing from an aircraft and the aircraft is still considered airworthy.
