A

1) ability to remove waste products for the tissue
2) deliver oxygen and other nutrients to area of concern

(venous and lymphatics!)

Q

Describe somatic pain

A

LATER after condition has progressed
-Well-localized, asymmetric, and aggravated by jarring motions

(think appendix … starts vague periumbilical then localizes to mcburneys)

Q

What is the preference for motion when a somatic dysfunction is irritating viscero-somatic areas?

A
  • extension (small rotatores)

- rotation & side bending TO THE SAME SIDE as involved organ

Q

Pathophysiology of sympathtics & some dysfunction

A
  • Inc vascular tone = dec O2 and nutrients to tissues
  • Inc mucosal sensitivity to H+ and alters the mucosal barrier
  • relaxation of gallbladder and ducts
  • dec peristalsis –> constipation

Q

Chapmans - colon points:

A

tender - lateral sides of the thigh in the anterior half of the iliotibial bands from the greater trochanters to the lateral epicondyles of the femurs
(reflect colon onto the thigh - so cecum = upper thigh R leg, ascending = mid thigh R leg, hepatic flexure = distal thigh R leg, and so one up the L thigh

Q

Pathophysiology of parasympathtics & some dysfunction

A
