One Sample Z/ T Test Flashcards
(4 cards)
1
Q
What is H0 and H1 for a one ample t - test?
A
H0: Population mean = hypothesised value
H1: Population mean is different from hypothesised value
2
Q
What are the assumptions for a one-sample T-Test?
A
- Sample data is independent
- Normally distributed
- Scale of measurement must be interval or ratio
3
Q
How do you interpret SPSS Output for one-sample t-test?
A
- Test statistic (t value): A higher value indicates stronger effect
- P-Value: If P<a (e.g. 0.05) , reject the null hypothesis, indicting a significant difference
- Confidence interval: Shows the range in which the true population mean is likely to fall
4
Q
Methodology for carrying out a one-sample t-test?
A
- State null and alternative hyp
- Calculate mean + SDV
- Calculate test statistic
- Compare test statistic to critical values or use p value to make a decision
