Flashcards in Options Deck (16):
define radioactive index:
the ratio of the speed of light in a vacuum to the speed of light in the medium
blue light has an index of refraction that is ________ than red light
the point on the principal axis of the lens through which a ray parallel to the principal axis goes after refraction in the lens
why is the sky blue?
blue light is scattered in all directions as a result of interaction with small dust particles in the atmosphere.
images created when rays of light seem to come from a single point byt in fact they do not pass through that point.
the rays of light do actually pass thorugh a single point
brings parallel rays into one focus point
the distance between the centre of the lens and the focal point
the ratio between the size of theimage and the size of the object. image over object
power of a lens
1/F (Focal length)
1/u + 1/v =1/f
v= imaage distance
the fact that raus striking the outer regions of a shperical lens will be brought to a slightly different focus point from those striking hte inner regions of the same lens alter affect: change the shape of the lens, decrease the aperture.
the fact that rays of different colours will be brought to a slightly different focus point by the same lens. effect can be eliminated by an achromatic doublet (compund lens)
p= n wavelength
path difference (Geometry)
p = d sin ø
