How have you prepared for a job as a police officer?
Start with relative job experience with customer service. I prepared for this job by investing time and money and myself to make sure I was prepared physically as well as mentally. I’ve made fitness and being in shape part of my lifestyle by strength training daily. I’ve also made the effort of talking to police officers I know, both currently working and retired, as well as participating in a ride along. so I can have an accurate idea of what to expect and to make sure i’m prepared to overcome any obstacle’s I may face.

Why do you want to become a police officer?
I was raised to respect police officers and I was taught that they are there to help. I know that people are often unhappy with police presence but at the end of the day the job is about helping people by putting their safety first. Even though it’s a thankless job I enjoy helping people and I can see myself making a career of doing just that.

Why do you want to leave your current job?
As much as I’ve enjoyed being a bartender, it’s not a job I can see myself making a career out of. When I think of my long term career goals I know I need to invest my time in a career that will benefit not only me but my family as well. I want to adapt my many years of experience with customer service towards policing and really use that knowledge to succeed
Greatest strength
My greatest strength is that I’m very reasonable. I take time to think about situations and figure out a logical and sensible solution. I’m open minded when it comes to considering a perspective different than my own.
What is your greatest weakness?
My greatest weakness is not asking for help right away when I need it. There’s a balance between not giving up too easily and admitted defeat and I’m really working on finding the level middle ground. As I’ve gotten older I’ve learned that most people are more than willing to help, it’s just a matter of asking.
