Q

Soft Palate function

A

initially: during swallowing the palate tenses

16
Q

3 regions of Pharynx

A

Naso-Pharynx: post to nasal cavity and superior to the soft palate
Oro-Pharynx: post to mouth and oral cavity
Laryngopharynx: post to larynx

17
Q

Types of tonsils:

A

Pharyngeal Tonsils: Adenoids, found in the roof and walls of nasopharynx
Tubal Tonsils: lymphoid tissue near the pharyngeal office of the pharyngotympanic tube
Palatine Tonsils: lymphoid tissue found either side of the oropharynx b/w the palatoglossal arches and palatoglossal

18
Q

Pharyngeal Mm:

A

External 3 mm which lie on the posterior wall and sides of the pharynx which posteriorly insert into the median fibrous raphe
descends from pharyngeal tubercle on the base of the skull to the oesophagus
Involuntary mm contract superior to inferior
propel food into oesophagus

19
Q

Nerve Supply of Pharyngeal Mm

A

Motor and Sensory mainly from the pharyngeal plexus of nerves
Motor- mainly: vagus except stylopharyngeus which is glossopharyngeal
Sensory of glossopharyngeal and maxill div of trigeminal
