Christian creation story of how the universe was made by god in 6 days.
Day 1 – Dark/light Day 2 – Sky/Sea Day 3 – Land/plants Day 4 – Moon/sun Day 5 – Sky creatures/sea creatures Day 6 – Human and land animals.
Literal christians believe everything comes from god so they take genesis 1 literally word for word.
Liberal christians say that the bible is a simplified story that allows humans a glimpse into gods workings.
Liberals using gods given intellagence combine genesis 1 and science.

Literal christians believe everything in the bible word for word. That means that they believe that life only was created in these 6 days from gods all powerful abilities. A literal christian Ken Ham states “Everything was created by God in six, literal 24hr days about 6000 years ago” This shows how simple literal christians see things with no questions asked.
Liberal christians believe in the bible but also believe that science can help discover the real reasons of the origins of life. Liberalist Rob Bell said “If in any way science threatens your faith, then you probably need a better faith” This shows that they do not have full faith in the bible like literal Christians do. Willing to change faiths depending on evidence.
Scientific materialists don’t believ in the bible at all. They think that all of the origins of life can come from scientific evidence. If there is no evidence then it didntd happen showing why they don’t believe in genesis 1.

Divine revelation which is when the story comes directly from god.
Oral tradition which is when god speaks directly to his human creations and so info is passed down from Adam and Eve.

Divine revelation- If god is all powerful then sending dreams is easy. If god is all powerful we can believe this. If god is all knowing then they knew how to write the bible in a way we can understand what we need to know. Its less reliable as people may lie and dreams can be misleading.
Word of mouth- Some might argue this is the unchanged story while others may say its become more poetic and less accurate. Less reliable due to liars. More reliable as it comes from a primary source.

3 main pieces of information that explains the big bang theory. CBR, Red shift and abundance of certain elements.
CBR- As big bang was developed it was discovered that it would leave lots of energy which is seen to have been left.
Abundance of certain elements – The large proportion of hydrogen in the universe today is exactly what you would expect if the universe had been started off by a big bang.
Red shift theory – a big bang would make the galaxies move apart. Everything in the universe expands from 1 central point. The red loght suggests we are far away.

Red shift- This suggests that the universe started from one central point.
CBR- This suggests the big bang did happen because if there wasn’t a bug bang where did the energy come from because realistically God wouldn’t just put it there during Genesis 1.
Abundance- same as CBR
Literalists don’t believe in anything to do with this and would say these theorys are made up or have no relevance to creation of the universe.
Liberalists would believe a fair bit of this as Rob Bell stated “if in any way science threatens your faith, then you should probably find a different faith.” This shows that they believe they shouldn’t put all faith into Genesis 1 as theres so much evidence that show otherwise.

Adam was created by god who created adam first forming him out of soil and breathing life giving breathe into him. God then created the garden of Eden and filled it, but Adam needed a companion so he created all the animals and birds. These were not suitable, so god created women Eve by putting Adam in a deep sleep taking one of his ribs to form Eve.
Adam and Eve had two sons named Cain and Abel. Cain killed Abel then found a wife. Although where did this wife spawn from.

Gen 4:17v- The issue with this is that incest is disgusting and does not fit with modern ideas.
Literalists might argue that it was a different time and different set of rules so if God allowed it then it was okay. Furthermore if there were groups missing then why does that give the right to question the bible as God only told us what we need to know.
Liberalists believe that its not what the story is saying but its actually the meaning behind it. Details like that don’t matter as long as you get the understanding. Adam and Eve = individuals. Liberalists due to this though can take more into consideration about science.

Charles Darwin came up with the theory on the HMS Beagle around the world trip of natural selection.
Most of the fossils provide the main source of evidence.
The issue of fossils is that christian literalists would argue that our world isnt millions of years old so fossils will have happened by noahs arc.
Common features. - all species have similarities
Literalists would argue that there was nothing wrong with God using a similar design across a range of species.
Liberal christians will end up questioning genesis 2 more.
Evolution A
Literals believe that fossils don’t show changes between species but could be individual by God which were killed in Noahs Arc. Furthermore they will also question how can you be so sure they are connected as there are so many gaps. World wasn’t made billion of years ago.
Liberals believe that fossils could have been left by God to show evolution so its science from God to show the gaps the bible doesn’t talk about.
Literals believe that common features isnt by evolution and that God issued the features so even if some are similar it is just how God decidedna species to be.
