What is the pathophysiology of osteoarthritis?

A
  • Rate of dmg exceeds rate of repair
  • Joint fails to dissipate load
  • Leads to cycle degredation.
  • Exposed bone marrow -> mor dmg
  • Further loss of cartilage & growth of osteophytes
  • Narrowing of joint space
  • Results in synovitis & effusion

A

Acitivity related joint pain
Morning stiffness lasts no longer that 30mins
Muscle wasting
Hands/fingers have nodules present.
