FOUR INTERNATIONAL FIREARM SAFETY RULES
FUNDAMENTALS OF SHOOTING
- Treat every firearm as loaded
- Always point the muzzle in a safe direction
- The finger is to remain off the trigger until a conscious decision has been made to discharge the firearm
- Identify the target and surroundings before discharging any firearm
What is a safe direction?
Safe Direction - In the event of an unauthorised discharge, only minimal property damage will occur, and no human injury is likely to result

What is ‘Excited Delirium’?
A person may exhibit VIOLENT BEHAVIOUR in a BIZARRE and MANIC way rather than just being simply violent.
What is ‘Positional Asphyxia’?
Circumstances where there is an increased need for oxygen and the subject is unable to source sufficient amounts to sustain life.
What are the indicators of ‘Positional Asphyxia’?
Indicators:
Cyanosis (blue),
limbs jerking,
change in consciousness, panic/distress,
increased temperature, headache.
Tactical communications - Compliant (I.C.A.F.E.)
o Introduce yourself
o Confirm why speaking (I am investigating a complaint of)
o Ask for personal particulars (Name, ID)
o Find out why they have done what they have done
o Explain your decision
