-juxtaposition between tenderness and violence - vacillation
-anagnorisis is ironic as it’s too late
-poetic structure of antithesis balances is ironic as Othello is anything but balanced- could show Othello’s attempt to regain his old eloquence as a final act.

-Othello’s internal conflict and inner turmoil - doubting Des honesty
-Othello is indecisive due to Iago’s manipulation
-paradox as Othello holds two mutually exclusive views at once
-rhythmic disruption as the iambic pentameter is disrupted by “I think” revealing Othello’s inner turmoil
“She loved me for the dangers I did pass and I loved her that she did pity them”

-othello’s love is a foundation of pity meaning it’s fragile doomed to collapse-inevitability
-Othello is drawn to a compassion and empathy
-parallel structure - othello’s eloquent Lexis contrast downfall

-Othello can’t handle relationship which shows his inexperience - inevitability
-hyperbole overwhelmed happiness

- heat of life light and knowledge link to Greek mythology and the idea that he cannot reignite her light.
