Q

What is happening in 1 Kings with the old prophet and why does he lie to the man of God?

A

It shows that temptation can come from unexpected places. The man of God had refused a king but he was deceived by the prophet. The man died and the prophet will have to give account to God when he dies. The best thing to take away from this is that only act out on things differently on what God has told you if He tells you himself to do so, no one else
