Irony
the expression of one’s meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite, typically for humorous or emphatic effect.
Connotation
an idea or feeling that a word invokes in addition to its literal or primary meaning.
Superstition
excessively credulous belief in and reverence for supernatural beings.
Rationalism
a belief or theory that opinions and actions should be based on reason and knowledge rather than on religious belief or emotional response.
Fallacies
a mistaken belief, esp. one based on unsound argument.

the theory that all knowledge is derived from sense-experience. Stimulated by the rise of experimental science, it developed in the 17th and 18th centuries, expounded in particular by John Locke, George Berkeley, and David Hume.
