Postulate
a statement that is accepted as a fact, without proof
Theorem
a statement that has been proven to be true using other theorems, definitions, or postulates
Linear Pair
two angles that are adjacent (next to) and supplementary
Corresponding
to be in the same relative position
Included Angle
the angle between two sides of a triangle
Included Side
the side between two angles of a triangle
Concurrent
when three or more lines intersect at one point
Point of Concurrency
the point of intersection of concurrent lines
Circumcenter
the point where all three perpendicular bisectors of a triangle meets
This can be inside or outside the triangle.
When you draw a circle through the three vertices of any triangle, the circumcenter of the triangle will always be the center of the circle.
Intercenter
the point where the angle bisectors of the three interior angles meet
Median
In terms of triangles
a line from a vertex to the midpoint of the opposite side
Each triangle has three.
Centroid
the point where all three medians of a triangle meet
The center of gravity aka the balance point of the triangle.
Altitude
the line segment from a vertex to the opposite side, and perpendicular to that side
This can be inside or outside the triangle.
Orthocenter
the point where the altitudes of a triangle meet
This can be inside or outside the triangle.
