Sound is no longer transmitted into inner ear efficiently

Describe the hearing loss?
A
Gradual onset conductive

Females
Worse in pregnancy
2nd and 3rd decades

Symptoms?
A
Hearing loss - gradually gets worse over time
Difficulty hearing low, deep sounds and whispers
Speak quietly
Easier to hear when background noise
Tinnitus
Dizziness

Management?
A
Hearing aid
Replacement of fixed stapes with prosthesis (stapedectomy)
