Brief detail of leggings:
made from domestic goat hide worn fur side out, tapered downwards
knotted to the belt
Brief detail of loin cloth:
worn over belt and leggings, hung freely to knees. made of leather. approx length 1.8m

shape of blunt cone
made of bearskin
had chinstrap

Upper garment:
least preserved. only 1/3 survived, therefore unknown shape
cloak:
plaited from grasses over one metre in length and open in front.
shoes:
outer and inner part for insulation purposes
was he sufficiently equipped to keep warm?
yes, not for long period though. many layers of clothing, special shoes etc to keep warm
Equipments found?
partially made bow stave, axe, parts of back pannier, two birchbark containers, dagger with scabbard, retoucher, net, quiver with makings of several arrows. also belt pouch which had implements for sharpening tools and flint
What do the equipments suggest?
may have been a soldier/warrior in battle with rival clans
lifestyle was war-like, constantly in battle or danger of attack
had equipments to survive in cold
What is the significance of the copper bladed axe?
symbol of power/wealth/status as expensive and low supply. Member of elite/clan chief maybe
How well equipped to defend himself?
well equipped but some unfinished such as bow stave and arrows:
- limit his defences when attacked
- bow = good for long distance but unfinished
- only weapons for close combat
Was he equipped to gather food?
yes, had containers, net, dagger to assist in capturing, killing and containing food.
